The Tackers Sailing Program is set to kick off next term with Paynesville Primary Schools Grade 6 students taking to the lake in an intensive, three day program designed to teach primary school age children sailing skills, while gaining water and sailing confidence in a fun and safe environment. Now in its 3rd year with the School, the program is run by qualified instructors at the Gippsland Lakes Yacht Club in Paynesville. It is a non-competitive sailing program based on fun participation which aims to encourage children to foster a lifelong interest in sailing.

While the school received some funding for the program there was still a shortfall that needed to be covered. This year Webster Marine Boat Sales have gotten onboard (pardon the pun) to cover the remaining balance. Proceeds from the sale of Webster Marine Hoodies have been pledged as a donation to the Schools Tackers program on an ongoing basis.

“Webster Marine are proud to be able to assist with sponsorship of the Junior Sailing Tackers Program through the Primary School.” Says Tony. “Learning to sail provides kids with a unique set of skills, as well as developing their social networks and team spirit, while also further enhancing the longevity of the sport.”

Today Tony Webster presented a cheque to Grade 6 teacher, Sheree Benton and School Principal, Tony Roberts for $300 dollars for hoodies sold to date.

Hoodies are still available for sale at $45 each with further proceeds going towards next years program.
