"CURRAWONG" is the last Stuart 47 built and was launched in 2004. Purchased by the current owner in 2022, she has since undergone a comprehensive four-year refurbishment with absolutely no expense spared.

Featuring a new modernised interior, new rig and sails, new 135hp Nanni diesel, new 5kVA genset, Victron Lithium/CZone electrical system, full Raymarine electronics with Quantum radar and cameras, new paintwork, Coppercoat, stainless fittings and much more.

A beautifully finished, highly capable motor sailer combining classic design with modern systems and equipment, "CURRAWONG" is ready for coastal cruising or extended offshore passages.

Who is the buyer of this extraordinary yacht.
The person who values the level of perfection demonstrated by Currawong. The project was to re furnish the vessel to the highest level possible using our local expertise in shipwrights and stainless steel fabrication, sailmaker and marine electrician. The rig was built in Brisbane by All Yacht Spars. The new Nanni engine and genset provided by marine diesel in Capalaba. Australian Cedar and Sydney Blue Gum veneers were used to refinish the interior, providing a beautiful warm glow to the surfaces. The repaint in Wattyl PolyU 400 externally and Northane for the interior are complemented by Feast Watson clear finishes.
The owner has completed 5 other major rebuild projects, this is probably the last one. It has taken over 4 years to bring to completion and is now ready for a discerning buyer who knows that it just cannot be done for the asking price and can see both the value and the excellence of the outcome.

The undersides of Currawong deserve a special mention. Clever design has given her efficient motoring and sailing performance.
Comfortably motoring at better than 7 knots yet sailing well with a balanced skeg hung rudder. Managing rough seas while still accessing shallow coastal areas with her Scheel Keel design.
A new 24v Vetus bow thruster makes mooring simple.
The whole underwater surface was taken back to gel coat. There were no blisters (or glass damage of any sort) revealed. The hull then had an epoxy top coat and Coppercoat antifouling applied. Properly looked after and reactivated as required, this surface is good for many years with minimal attention.
The propeller was balanced and is fitted to a new high grade stainless steel drive shaft. All underwater through hull fittings were replaced with TruDesign Marelong composite fittings and valves.

A discerning eye may have detected the missing hatch trims inside the vessel. World supply issues have delayed supply of the genuine Gebo hatch surrounds. They will be fitted as soon as they are available to complete the headlining.
Close observation of the forestay in the photos will show a missing furler.
Allen Hutton has just completed manufacturing the new furler to match the new Hutton winches around the boat. The furler will be installed in the next week and finally the new headsail can be tested.

Let me comment on the asking price for Currawong.
This boat is the last one built of this brand. It was launched in 2004 at a build cost of approx 1.3m.
This boat has just had at least the same amount spent on it again to completely refurbish, refit and prepare it for the next 20 years of local cruising or world wide roaming.
Comparable boats might include a Moody, Island Packet, Beneteau or Amel but none of these is truly a wheelhouse style motorsailer with the motoring AND sailing ability of the Stuart 47. Certainly none have been refitted to this level of perfection and if new they will be 4 or 5 times the asking price of Currawong.
